Storyline

  Widower Amar is well-off financially, and lives in a house with his daughter, and servant Dayal. His sister and brother-in-law want him to marry again, so that his daughter can have the love and care of a woman. Amar reluctantly agrees. Together they set out to check out two sisters, Shobha, and Sheela. Amar goes as Dayal, and Dayal goes as Amar, as Amar is not sure if a step-mother will be able to bestow care and love as a real mother. They arrive at the household of Durga, Shanti Swarup, Renu, Sheela, and their servant Geeta. They begin to settle down, Dayal in a spacious room, and Amar in the servant's quarters, which consists of an untidy room with no electricity. It is not long before Amar finds out that he is attracted to Geeta, and not to the two sisters, but in his present state, he cannot reveal himself, and openly propose marriage. In the meantime, Durga starts getting suspicious about Amar, and starts wondering if Amar is actually a servant or a crook.

Storyline

   Amar and Mansi meet through their respective families and have an arranged marriage. Amar, a book-keeper, is very thrifty, intends to save money so that they can buy their very own flat, and both to live as frugally as possible. Mansi soon gives birth to a baby boy, Bablu. Then Sapna joins Amar's firm and is asked to sit in this room, as her youth and beauty has led to distraction in the workplace. Amar reluctantly agrees to share his room with her, and is soon drawn toward her and they often go out together after work. Sapna would like to marry Amar, and asks him to tell his wife, so that the couple can separate. Amar does so, and Mansi agrees to separate on the condition that he introduces Sapna to her, and Amar agrees to do so. Watch how a pensive Mansi goes through the rest of the day - which may well culminate in her losing out to a much younger and attractive woman - a day that may change her life forever.

Storyline

         Rosie Perreira is an overly anxious widow, living with her guitar-obsessed son, Sabhi, and a lovely daughter, Nancy, who she would like to get married to a wealthy young man. Her helpful neighbor, Tom, introduces a young eligible Tony Braganza to Nancy in the 9:10 AM Western Railway local train from Bandra to Churchgate. Tom also asks Nancy to introduce Tony to Rosie, which she does. Rosie is initially apprehensive about him as he only drawing a mere Rs.300/ compared to Nancy's Rs.700/-, but soon changes her mind when she finds out that after his probationary period he will draw a monthly pay of Rs.1000/-. Nancy and Tom are permitted to meet and both eventually fall in love. While Nancy wants to follow her mother's directions and get married, Tony is hesitant, and this is what costs him Nancy's love, as she starts to feel that he will not come through with the marriage. And soon Rosie starts looking elsewhere for a son-in-law, while Tony is still reluctant to make any commitments.

The movie, with a simply yet effective plot, tells much about the lives of the sudras or Harijans, the people essentially forced into forced labour and neglected from all walks of society. The movie aptfully ends with a question mark on "freedom" as attained by India. Are the people of India still "free"?

Storyline

           The second wife of kind-hearted,and generous Amirchand Bhargav is Durgadevi Bhargav (Nadira), who is exactly the opposite of her late husband. She rules over her household, alongwith her brother, Makhanlal (Madan Puri), with an iron hand, and also over her step-daughter, Shanti (Vidya Sinha), who she treats worse than her servants. Due to her brutality, there is always a dearth of servants in her household, and hence most of the work must be done by Shanti. Her other daughter is Roopa (Moushumi Chatterjee), is bad-tempered and spoiled. When a former employee of Amirchand, Ratanlal (Shreeram Lagoo) approaches Durgadevi for marrying her two sons to her two daughters, she humiliates him and turns him away. Unperturbed by this, he asks the assistance of his two sons, Ram (Sanjeev Kumar) and Laxman (Shashi Kapoor), so that the marriages can take place, and at the same time Durgadevi and Makhanlal be taught a lesson.

Storyline

          A cabaret dancer and singer, Sheela (Zeenat Aman) has two admirers: a small-time thief Rajesh (Feroz Khan), and a young, eligible widower, Amar (Vinod Khanna). Both are best friends and does not know that they love the same woman. Then an enemy in the gust of Vikram Singh (Shakti Kapoor) appears and make both men life miserable by exposing each others reality to one another, hereafter Rajesh and Amar's friendship turn upside down. Rajesh is blamed for Rakka's (Amrish Puri) death and is schedule to be jailed for a lifetime. While Amar along with Sheela and his small daughter escapes to the U.K. with a lot of diamonds and money stolen by Rajesh. Will Rajesh allow Amar to betray him or will he jumped to conclusion and escapes from the police to take revenge from his perpetrators?
