Storyline

    Widowed Radha lives in rural India circa 1960s, along with two sons, Bharat and Puran. While she would like to educate her sons, and ensure that they lead good lives, she cannot do so on her own, and must sacrifice the career of one son so that the second can achieve this goal. For this purpose, Bharat willingly sacrifices his life, toils hard so that Puran can get a decent education, which he does, excels in his studies, and also goes abroad. The family is very pleased, when Puran returns, hoping that he will ensure that they all live happily in India. But the man they know as Puran has been replaced by a cruel, self-serving man who now calls himself Kumar, and whose one goal is to usurp and divide the family property, so that he can continue to live a comfortable life. "Kasme vaade pyar wafa sab, baaten hai, baaton ka kya, koi kisika nahin, yeh jhootey naahtey hai, naahton ka kya..." by Manna Dey, continues to be popular even today, which translated means that "Promises

Ram Aur Shyam 1967

Storyline

  Abused by an oppressive brother-in-law Gajendra (Pran), Ramchandra (Dilip Kumar) runs away from home, and ends up in a small village where he is mistaken for Shyamrao (also Dilip Kumar), and must accept Ganga (Leela Mishra) and his new name or face severe exorcism. Meanwhile, Shyamrao is mistaken for Ramchandra by Anjana (Waheeda Rehman) and her dad (Nazir Hussain). When Gajendra finds out, he is enraged and attempts to beat the stuffing out of the person he thinks is his brother-in-law, but Shyamrao refuses to be abused or beaten, and all of a sudden things start changing in the household as well as in the community. It is not long before Gajendra finds out about the truth, and plans an ugly death for Shyamrao, and all those opposed to him.

Storyline

     Kumar, though of Indian origin, lives in Africa. He has recurring dreams of a Railway Station in India called "Viran Nagar". He decides to find for himself and travels to India along with his friend, Rocky. They are able to find Viran Nagar railway station, which is exactly as Kumar had dreamed of. When they go to find a ride, the locals shy away from them as behave as though they have seen a ghost. They find temporary accommodations and set out to discover the mystery behind Kumar's dreams. Then a young woman, Sapna, meets with Kumar, tells him that she has been awaiting his return, and now they can be together again. But Kumar has never been to this place before, and ends up even more confused. Then another local villager named Bansi tells them he had himself seen Kumar getting killed and buried in the nearby forest. Kumar and Rocky must now find out who was killed, and why the villagers believe that Kumar has returned from the grave.

Storyline

    Beautiful Meena lives a wealthy lifestyle along with her widowed dad, Thakur, in a small town in India. When her dad hires a new Manager, Rajesh, she and her friend, Taruna, decide to tease him and make him believe that both are in love with him. He finds out and pretends that he has fallen in love with both. As a result both women end up falling in love with him with the Thakur ready to permit Meena to wed with him. Acrimony sets in between Meena and Taruna when Meena makes it clear that she wants Rajesh for herself as well as reminds her that her marriage has been finalized with their Contractor, Lala Bhagatram, when Taruna was a child. Then Rajesh is assaulted by some men and his mother, Shanti, attends to look after him. It is her presence that will not only unleash a dark secret from their past, which included a murder, but also lead to another homicide.

Storyline

   Professor Kumar lives a wealthy life with his wife, a son, Jyoti, and two daughters, Rekha and Chitra. His son is addicted to alcohol and stays away from home, often returning late at night or not at all. Rekha is traditional, orthodox, and is willing to marry the man of her father's choice. Chitra, on the other hand is the opposite, extrovert, outgoing, and having an affair with a Judge's son, Ramesh. Chitra soon finds out that Ramesh is an alcoholic, and a womanizer, but she would still like him to marry her, as she is expecting his child. Then a young man, Prakash, finds out that Prof. Kumar had an affair with his mother, Parvati, and abandoned her in a pregnant state, when he found out that she was going to lose her vision. Prakash now wants to expose this two-faced professor, and get some justice for his mother. Faced with a scandal over his pregnant daughter, will Kumar be able to handle Prakash's accusations?

Storyline

   On the banks of the holy River Ganga, Gopi, a ferryman conducts an unconsummated romance with Radha, a girl from the upper classes. At the same time, he rejects the advances of Gauri, a girl from his own village, who is attracting the unwanted attention of Radha's lecherous uncle. Fate is not kind to them. Radha is married off to a man she doesn't care for and Gopi is severely beaten by thugs sent by Radha's uncle after he prevents him from molesting Gauri. Radha's husband dies suddenly and she returns home in disgrace to find her father is dangerously ill. However, the attraction between Radha and Gopi remains as strong as ever and ugly rumours start to circulate about the nature of their relationship - for which Gopi blames the jealous Gauri. Emotions come to the boil and tragedy results.

Storyline

     Kumar is a well-known stage actor in Bombay. While on a trip to scenic Darjeeling, he meets with and falls in love with, Meena, the only daughter of wealthy military contractor, Verma. Shortly thereafter Kumar and Meena get married and return home to Bombay. Four years later Meena's dad passes away after telling her something that he had hidden from her for four years. Then a year later, Kumar notices that Meena does not accompany him to the stage anymore, and excuses herself on the pretext of being ill. Shortly thereafter, Meena gets killed, the Police assign this case of Inspector Ashok who starts his investigation - which will reveal that Meena was meeting secretly with Captain Mahendra; had been married to Captain Rajesh, and has a daughter by the name of Sarika in an orphanage. All Ashok knows is that the primary suspect is a bearded man by the name of S.N. Sinha who was lurking near Meena's residence on the night of the murder

Storyline

    Shanker Choudhury's (Tarun Bose) mother (Pratima Devi), at the pleas of her dying husband, marries off his (Shanker's) daughter to a youth. Both the children are under-age and do not know nor understand that they have been married. When Shanker's wife (Veena) finds out, she is livid, and refuses to let her child be committed to this marriage. Years pass, Shanker has passed away, though his mother is still alive, and his wife is a widow, and his daughter has now grown up to be a lovely young lady, Roopa (Vyjayanthimala). Roopa has many suitors, but she is attracted to only one - Ashok (Uttam Kumar). Ashok is also attracted to her, and both fall in love. Roopa introduces Ashok to her mother, who approves of him, and plans are set to marry them. Then Roopa finds out that she has already been married in child-hood. This creates a conflict in her. Others too find out and all of a sudden Roopa is shunned, avoided, and even asked not to participate in a wedding ceremony.

Storyline

           Lucknow-based Zeenat Jahan Begum lives with her widower father, Nawab Mirza Sultan, and Kariban Bua. Despite losing their riches, they rent part of their mansion, pretend to be wealthy, eat Kichdi and call it Dal Pulav. She is in love with Yusuf and would like to marry him. When her father arranges her marriage, she assumes it is with Yusuf, but is in for a shock when she finds that her groom is wealthy Nawab Sikander Mirza. Dressed as a bride she goes to seek shelter with Yusuf but is told by his maternal uncle, Mir Qurban Ali, that Yusuf does not love her and has re-located to Allahabad for three months. She returns home but her disgraced and enraged father asks her to leave. She then attempts to go to her in-laws but is unable to speak freely with her 'husband'. Devastated she turns to the Dhargah, passes out, and when awakens - finds herself in a brothel run by Naziran Bai.

Storyline

         Raj Singh is the nephew and heir apparent of multi-millionaire J.J. Singh. J.J. Singh has to travel worldwide for business purposes, and he asks Raj to join him in Tokyo. An employee, Pran, who has been asked to take care of Raj's travel needs, decides to sabotage this trip in order to embarrass Raj. When Raj lands at Tokyo, he misses his uncle, who has had a change in plans, and is now in Europe. Raj must re-book his flight to go to Europe. Raj finds that he has no money for an air-ticket, or to go anywhere. All he has is $8 American dollars, which will not even be able to buy him a meal in Japan, leave alone travel anywhere.

Storyline

      Wealthy Anita and office-worker Neeraj almost elope, but her father interrupts the wedding. Neeraj tries to contact Anita, but finds that she is now engaged to Anil Sharma. Later, a heartbroken Neeraj reads in the newspaper that Anita has committed suicide. He tries to find the truth behind her death. From various people he learns different stories about Anita's past: she had multiple personalities or she was a morally-loose woman. All this goes against the Anita he knew and loved. And then, he sees her again. Is she a ghost, is Neeraj losing his mind, or is there something sinister afoot?

Storyline

         Rajjo, one of two children in Engineer Harsukh Rai's Uttar Pradesh-based family, is in love with Flight Lieutenant Jeetendra, and their marriage is arranged. On the day of the wedding, war is declared, the marriage gets canceled and he goes to combat. He is gravely injured, becomes crippled, and hospitalized. Rajjo's family perishes in aerial bombardment and she re-locates to live with her cousin. Jeetendra does return and is devastated when told that everyone has been killed. A wealthy woman takes pity on him, hires him as Manager, and confides that her son, Thakur Uday Singh, is a womanizer and alcoholic. Jeetendra counsels her to compel him to get married, and he agrees to do so. The marriage is arranged with none other than Rajjo herself, but the duo maintain their silence. On the wedding night Uday goes to the brothel, gets into a physical altercation with Nawab Ladan, kills him, and goes on the run.

From here on Ajay's life takes a new turn in trying to find the culprit who have murdered Naresh, in the process he meets a young woman, Kiran who have some crucial evidences that might lead Ajay to the culprit who have murdered alcoholic and womanizer Naresh.

Saraswatichandra 1968

Storyline

         In a nation crippled with poverty and crime, young Saraswatichandra is brought up by his rather cruel step-mother, and eventually decides to shun materialistic life. Hoping to get him to change his mind, his father arranges his marriage with Kumud Sundari, but he remains adamant. When Kumud comes to know, she writes to him, they exchange letters, he comes to meet her and both fall deeply in love with each other. He returns home, makes preparation for the wedding but his step-mother instigates his father against him, compelling him to forsake everything, and writes to Kumud's family accordingly. He changes his mind and goes to meet with Kumud but finds she is now married to Pramadh. A tearful Kumud re-locates to live with her husband and her family, but finds her husband unsophisticated, uneducated, alcoholic and womanizer who frequents brothels. Then Saraswatichandra re-enters her life when he gets employed by her in-laws under the name of Navinchandra.

Sadhu Aur Shaitaan 1968

Storyline

      Kind-hearted yet naive Bajrang (Mehmood) drives a taxi (laila) and helps anyone he can. He is devoted to another kind-hearted gentleman and long-time bank employee by the name of Sadhuram (Om Prakash). Bajrang is attracted to a school-teacher, Vidya (Bharathi), whose brother is an artiste, Dina Nath (Kishore Kumar). One day a man claiming to be a child-hood friend of Sadhuram, named Sher Khan (Pran), enters their lives. His motive is to rob the bank where Sadhuram is employed and blame Sadhuram for this. He manipulates Sadhuram into accepting him, and moves in with him. He borrows a large sum of money from Sadhuram, and also manages to duplicate the bank's safe's key, and steals the money. The Bank Manager (Nasir Hussain) notifies the police of the robbery and Sadhuram becomes the prime suspect. In panic Sadhuram, who comes into possession of the money that Sher Khan has stolen, flees with the police on his tail.
