Storyline

            Fair-minded Raja Gajraj Singh is overthrown in a coup by his brother, Balbir Singh. Both Gajraj's and Balbir's wives are pregnant, and give birth to twin sons, and a son respectively. Balbir orders that Gajraj's son be killed. Then he arranges for Gajraj and his wife's accidental death by a motor vehicle. Years go by, most people have forgotten Raja Gajraj, and Balbir is the sole acclaimed ruler with his fair-minded and soft-spoken son, Ganga Singh, who is all set to succeed the throne from his dad. Then Ganga meets a young woman named Jugni from a poor family and falls in love with her, she too falls in love with him, and both want to get married. But Balbir will not have anything to do with her, as he would like Ganga to marry rich and wealthy Mala. Chaos and anarchy suddenly descent upon the palace, when Ganga undergoes a character change and becomes womanizing, alcoholic, and foul-mouthed, much to the chagrin of his dad.

Storyline

     Vikram alias Vikki Kapur, is a pilot, and his main weakness is women. He uses his charms to snare them, promises to marry them, and then disappears just before the wedding ceremony. Radha is one of his victims, and is devastated by this betrayal. She vows to avenge her humiliation, and starts modelling as a career. She accumulates enough wealth and hires a private detective to trace Vikki. The private detective traces Vikki, who is now married to Meena, and through Radha's resourcefulness, she starts to manipulate his life. First she makes him lose one job after another, until he can no longer find employment. Then Radha meets with R.K., a wealthy industrialist, who owns several planes, and goes to live with him. They hire Vikki as their pilot, and this is where Radha's plot takes shape, when she asks Vikki to kill his wife, thereby disrupting his marital life, so that she can have him to herself.

Storyline

       Vishwam (Naseeruddin Shah) is the youngest brother of the powerful and influential village Zamindar (Amrish Puri). The Zamindar will not hesitate to do anything for the welfare and protection of his family, which also includes bending the law to his own advantage. Vishwam is married to Rukmani (Smita Patil), and unlike his brothers, does not indulge in alcohol or women, nor does he have any bad habits. Then the village gets a new schoolmaster (Girish Karnad), who has a wife, Susheela (Shabana Azmi). When Vishwam sees her for the first time, he is unable to take his eyes off her, and unable to get her out of his mind. Susheela does not reciprocate his attentions. Then one night, Susheela is forcibly carried away in a car by the Zamindar's right-hand men (Mohan Agashe and Anant Nag). The schoolmaster's efforts to stop them are to no avail, and the several people present do nothing to stop this abduction.

Storyline

   Based on F. Dostkeyfski's "The Meek One", this is the saga of a Bombay-based antique dealer-cum-money lender, who at the age of 40, marries a woman who is 17, and brings her home to his spacious flat in a multi-storied building with a magnificent view, where he lives with his Bua. Their marriage is not a happy one, even though he hopes it will get better. But the bride, who had lived her live in an orphanage, is immersed in her own thoughts, and at one point even held a revolver against her husband's head while he was sleeping. Shortly thereafter, he confronts her that he was aware of this incident, and that the revolver did contain one bullet. Watch what impact this has on their lives.

Storyline

      Reena lives a very wealthy lifestyle with her businessman dad, socialite mom, and widower paternal grandfather in a mansion. She studies in college, is very bored, and joins protesting students who are agitating against rising college fees. She has a crush on their family doctor, Samar Chowdhary. She goes on a date with him to a club and falls for the club's singer, Sharad, who rejects her. Still bored, she gets friendly with Kitty, who in turn introduces her to Rana, and from thence on Reena gets hooked on drugs and starts coming home late at night. Her grandfather notices this and tells her dad, who in turn confronts her, and convinces her to get married to Samar. The marriage does take place but Reena is unable to keep away from drugs, and refuses any treatment. She gets pregnant and is hospitalized.

Storyline

         The Principal of New Era High School in Panchgani finds an orphan, Raju, who had lost his parents to plague, brings him home, and enrolls him in the school. Raju notices that while every student has parents and visitors, he has no one to call his own. He gets distraught and is assured by the Principal that he does have a relative in Chacha Nehru (Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian Prime Minister). Raju believes him, and when he finds out through his teacher, Uma, that Nehru will be delivering a speech in Chowpatty, Bombay, he sneaks off in the trunk of a car. Upon arrival he faces harsh realities, his money is almost stolen, and he is befriended by a cynical deranged male, who tells him that Nehru is now a speech-prone politician and is unable to hear what the common citizen has to say. He also tells him that Nehru has left Chowpatty and is at the Government Bungalow. Both take a cab there, but are told that Nehru has departed for Delhi.

Storyline

   Naukri is a story about a unemployed and physically challenged young man who cannot makes his ends meet. This character is played by none other than Rajesh Khanna the Superstar- no body else would have the guts to take such role in the peak of his career. He dreams and in his dream commits suicide and bumps into a ghost- jolly old showman Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor teaches Rajesh Khanna reasons to live and why people should not give up. Rajesh Khanna wakes in the morning and decides to fight his way and not to commit suicide. A classical type of movie directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee who always gave better roles to Amitabh but here this role could only be played by the Original Superstar. The movie makes you sad but leaves you with a hope that we must live on. Rajesh Khanna is great in this simple role with Raj Kapoor putting in his charisma. The movie may have bombed but the spirit of the movie is worth a watch- it may have bombed as it released at a time when violence,vulgarity and Amitabh ruled and may be the movie got ignored. The greatest setback in the movie is (1)continuity and (2) Very average music by R D Burman. This is a typical Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie- a must see for Rajesh Khanna fans

Storyline

       The delicate relationship between a 15-year-old girl and her grandfather is used to describe how the growing political tensions between Muslems and Hindus in 1992 led to the destruction of a medieval Muslim mosque and subsequently, violent rioting in the streets of Bombay. Naseem (urdu: sahar) means Morning breeze, and charts the story of a young school going girl Naseem in the months leading up to the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992. She shares deep and loving bond with his ill grandfather who represents the era of communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims in India, as he fondly recalls the times he spent in pre-Independent Agra. As communal tension erupts in the city of Bombay, Naseem get increasingly bewildered by changing dynamics at her school and in the neighborhood, while her grandfather watches helplessly at a city getting deeply divided over the Babri Masjid issue.
